Drum Boogie with Gene Krupa from Ball of Fire

Here is a great video with Gene Krupa playing Drum Boogie from the film Ball of Fire.

Ball of Fire was made in 1941 and features Gary Cooper as Prof. Bertram Potts who is researching slang words for an article in an encyclopedia. He meets the singer Sugarpuss O'Shea played by Barbara Stanwyck who teaches him about slang words while she is hiding from mobsters.

What do you think of this video clip with Barbara Stanwyck and Gene Krupa performing Drum Boogie? Tell me.

That's one of the greatest little pieces of theatrical music I've ever seen! Krupa and Stanwyck! What a classic!

I just recently saw the "The Gene Krupa Story". I had never heard of Gene Krupa before, but once I started watching the movie, I had to find out more about him. I saw "Drum Boogie" and fell in love with it. I can't wait to show my nephew this video, his in the Jazz band in college and would love it too.

I adore Gene Krupa! An amazing drummer...and to think we might not have his music if he didn't work in a music shop!

The singer is really Martha Tilton. Stanwyck does a great job of lip-synching, but if you google Martha, you'll know instantly that it's her singing.
