I think they are lacking some of Django's swinging quality. So many contemporary gypsy jazz players seem to mistake speed for virtuosity. Django swung because he laid back, he knew how to let notes ring and breathe. No doubt that the Rosenbergs are incredibly accomplished musicians, I just wonder why they choose to plow through everything.
jepusto, I understand what you mean. To get a really swinging feel in the music there needs to be a layed back/relaxed element in the music.
There are more video clips from that concert at Youtube where the tempo isn't that fast and there is more room for breathing.
I like different kinds of style and I like this style where they push the limits just as much as I like the laid back style.
