Lars Erstrand has passed away

Lars Erstrand. Swedish Swing Society at Katalin. Copyright: Henrik Eriksson (henrik@floyfloy.se). The photo may not be published elsewhere without written permission.

One of Uppsala's and Swedens best jazz musicians, vibraphone player Lars Erstrand, passed away today at the age of 72.

I liked his concerts with Swedish Swing Society and Lars Erstrand Four and I will always remember his warmth, his joy and his humour that he gave to us in the audience. Rest in peace.

Do you have any memories of Lars Erstrand that you would like to share? Please comment.

I had the pleasure of meeting Lars in Stockholm, 1987.
I was performing at the Hotel Riesen near the castle so we took a walk there. He shared with me his story and Sweden's love for Jazz.

A fine musician he was.

Hello,
I'm member of a website dedicated to the vibraphone. I saw your little note, and that beautiful picture of Lars Erstand!
I wrote a little post on our site in his memory, and obviously put this lovely pic in good place!
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Lars, for the wonderful listening experience I had with you. Also the guys who have been recording your music with exceptional quality contributed to your excellent timing and feeling , every hit on the wood...I'll mis him like my father.
