I have big news: This month I'm going to to be the guest dj on Yehoodi Radio. Each Thursday all through September I'll be presenting some of my favorite swing songs.

"In my set I'll provide a smorgasbord of swing, jazz and blues, a tasting menu, just featuring one song per artist so that you get maximum exposure to different artists and styles"

Jazz Discography Project

The Jazz Discography Project lists jazz discographies from mainly the late 1940s to the 1970s. Its main focus is modern jazz (bebop, cool/west coast, hard bop) but if you search through the listings for the jazz labels like Verve and Pablo etc you'll find swing recordings from artists like Count Basie and Ella Fitzgerald.

I think this discography can be useful to find info about swing recordings between 1950 and 1970. Browse through the list of record labels and tell me if you find some gems.

Dj Björn at Cats Corner

There are just a couple of weeks left of indoor dancing at Cats' Corner. Yesterday DJ Björn made his dj debut at Cats Corner. Great music all evening and lots of nice people to dance with. I even squeezed in a little bit of foxtrot and blues between all the lindy and balboa.

I've been busy at Cats' Corner this season and have been djing four five times. Now it's nice to have a little break.

Mr Kelly - Sarah Dawn Finer & Putte Wickman

A friend of mine, Miss L, recently performed the song, Mr Kelly, so I looked for other versions of it online and found this one sung by Sarah Dawn Finer and you can also spot Putte Wickman playing clarinet.

This fits perfectly into my mood as I prepare for a blues dance workshop in Stockholm this weekend. I don't know if I would dance blues to this song but I like the blue feeling it has.

One thing that surprised me was that Mr Kelly was written by a local musician here in Uppsala: Owe Thörnqvist. He is mostly known for other kinds of musical styles, so this was a nice surpice.
