Kulturnatten in Uppsala/ Cultural night

Tonight it's "Kulturnatten" in Uppsala, which means "The Culture Night". Kulturnatten is a really big cultural event here in Uppsala, I haven't counted but I think there are over 400 different cultural activitives going on during the evening. There are lots and lots of music, dance, art and performances. I think there are like 60000 people out on the streets. Did I say this was big?

It's impossible to see everything you would like to see, so you have to scan the program and decide what you really want to do. See the whole program for Kulturnatten.

Visit Swingkatten at Forumtorget

I will be an busy organiser tonight for Swingkatten's, our swing dance society's, activities. We have a lot to offer if you take a trip down to Forumtorget: Two livebands: Sweet Emma & The Mood Swingers 18-19 and Palladium between 20-22. There will be dance performances at 20.00 and 21.00. Fyris jazz band concert at Katalin: Photos

Fyris Jazz Band played hot dixieland jazz at Katalin and all that jazz last Saturday. The concert was arranged by Uppsala Jazz Club.

The band consists of Per-Olov Österholm (cornett), Åke Johansson (clarinet), Jan Löfgren (trombone), Jan Strinnholm (piano), Erik Ojala (bass) and Richard Johnsson (drums).



Did you know that Fyris Jazz Band was the very first band to play at Katalin and all that jazz (that is: when Katalin moved to this location just by the central station 7 years ago). This was their second gig here. Per-Olov Österholm welcomed the audience back to their next performance here in 2014.

The concert broke the attendance record for the season.

Upcoming: Fyris Jazz Band at Katalin

Tomorrow Saturday, Fyris Jazz Band will play hot dixieland jazz at Katalin and all that jazz. The concert is arranged by Uppsala Jazz Club and starts at 14.

I think this will be a really good concert. Fyris Jazz Band has been playing together for more than 10 years and is based in Uppsala.

The band consists of Per-Olov Österholm (cornett), Åke Johansson (clarinet), Jan Löfgren (trombone), Jan Strinnholm (piano), Erik Ojala (bass) and Rickard Johnsson (drums).

The concert costs 180 kr (150 if you're a member of Uppsala Jazz Club or have a UNT-card).

Uppsala Jazz Club: Program for spring 2007

Uppsala Jazz Club has just released its program for spring 2007 with concerts that will take place Saturdays at Katalin and all that jazz. It looks like it will be all kinds of jazz: traditional (hot) jazz with Fyris Jazz Band, 50's Basie style with Sandviken Big Band and Claes Jansson and also more modern jazz styles.

The first jazz concert of the season will be tomorrow Sat 10th, when Karl Olandersson Quartet plays. Karl Olandersson plays trumpet and sings. Also in the quartet: Mathias Algotsson (piano), Clas Lassbo (bass) and Mattias Puttonen (drums).

The concert starts at 14 o'clock. Tickets are bought at the door and costs 220 kr (190 kr if you are a member of Uppsala Jazz Club or has a UNT-card).

Some of you may recognize that one of my pictures of Nkiru from the Youth Jazz Contest is in the program. The first prize in the contest was a concert at Katalin. Nkiru will play Feb 24th.

I've been invited to report from all concerts so you can expect stories och photos all through the spring.
