At tonight's dance at Swedish Swing Society I'll have company by a friend and fellow dj from Uppsala: Trina Dobbs, although she will not dj but instead sell shoes.
Trina has started a buisness where she sells stylish vintage style shoes that are good for swing dancing. But you don't have to be a dancer, you can just be fan of the retro style.
Check out Trina Dobbs vintage style shoes at Jigwalk.com.
What kind of shoes do you use for swing dancing? What are your favorite brands? Please comment.

Swing i Swaben
This weekend, starting tomorrow Friday, there will be an event called Swing i Swaben.
Good bands, social dancing, dance classes and all sorts of fun.
This announcement comes a little bit late, but if you're a spontaneous person you still have time to join the fun. I wish I could be there. Some of my friends will be there: Emelie & Rebecka Decavita will teach lindy hop and Trina Dobbs (with her company Jigwalk) will sell vintage style shoes.
What do you think of Swing i Swaben? Please comment.

Cats Corner: Season finale
Tonight is the last Cats Corner for the season and the swing dj is Trina Dobbs. There will be some kind of contest during the night.
It has been a great season. I can't tell you enough how good it is to have a weekly dance. I think it raises the dancing level of the entire scene and it also brings the dance scene closer together since there are more opportunities to meet eachother.
I'm really impressed with how many people that has helped organize the evenings, I count to at least 27 persons that have contributed. Thank you so much!
I also love what a variety of swing music we have heard, we've had 13 different swing djs. Some of them came from Stockholm, but most of them were from Uppsala, how cool is that? I hope the newer djs continues to develop their style. The more, the merrier.
I hope that we can continue to develop Cats Corner in the autumn and I hope to get to meet some new friends.
What do you think of this season of Cats Corner? Do you have any ideas for the autumn? Please comment.

How to recognize a balboa dancer from Uppsala
Tonight it's time again for Cats Corner at Uplands nation in Uppsala. Since it is Veronika, Nils and Gabriela who are organizing this evening, the evening will have a slight focus towards all the balboa dancers in Uppsala.
One of the things they have fixed is small balboa corner so that the balboa dancer will run less risk to be hit by a charleston kick from the wild lindy dancers since the room can be quite crowded.
The balboa corner also makes it easier to find your fellow balboa dancer. Another thing that will help you recognize a balboa dancer from Uppsala is the newly produced balboa buttons. If a person wears this button, she/he would like to dance balboa with you. A great initiative from Jennie!
A couple of Swingkattens balboa teachers, Jonas Pettersson and Trina Dobbs, will dj classic swing tonight. As usual: Time: 20-23, Price: 20 kr.
The photo is taken by me and may not be published elsewhere without my permission. Contact me if you want to license it.
What do you think of the idea with a balboa button to locate other balboa dancers? Tell me.

Cats Corner: Swing Dance Photos
On Tuesday Cats corner took place again. I decided to devote a little more time to take pictures, but it's hard to take photos because of the dim light. The auto focus has a hard time and once it has focus, well then the dancing couple that you tried to photograph has moved a distance. Not to mention motion blur and camera blur. Social dance is one of the hardest things to photograph. Even though I'm pretty good at anticipating peak moments, it's not a choreographed dance as it is on a stage. If you're good at this, you're a really good photographer.
People ask me if I can't publish more photos and the answer is that I'm searching for a good webpage platform for displaying the photos. But until then, I'll just post a few the best photos here.
Trina Dobbs was djing and she played a very good version of Flat Foot Floogie by some jug band.
The photos are taken by me and may not be published elsewhere without my permission. Contact me if you want to license them.
Where you at Cats Corner? What did you think of the evening? Tell me.
