Dancin' The Boogie - Silvan Zingg, Will & Maéva

I always enjoy a good boogie woogie song and here is one: "Dancin' The Boogie", written and performed by Silvan Zingg from Switzerland. The couple who dances boogie woogie is William Mauvais and Maéva Truntzer.

I love the footwork that the boogie woogie dancers do, it looks so darn cool. Maybe one day I learn how to dance boogie woogie as well. My local dance society, Swingkatten, offer boogie woogie courses, so you never know...

Silvan Zingg organizes a large Boogie Woogie Festival each year.

Learn more about boogie woogie as a music style.

What do you think of of the video clip? Please comment.

  5. Fantastic, it was sent to me by a friend. I keep it on my desktop and when I feel 'down' I play it. Love it and would like to see them do more boogie woogie. The fellow on the piano sure isn't shabby either. The best to you from Colette in Wisconsin

  6. I tried to find more on these dancers who are listed as Maeva Truntzer and William . The links don't look too much like these two. Could this be a different couple?

  7. I think the dancers are the two times world champions in Boogie Woogie (2008 and 2009). Awesome dancing and the playing by Silvan is stunning.

  10. Love the dancers too.

And I love William and Maeva.

However, I think the dancers in this video are definitely NOT William and Maeva.

  12. I love this video and have watched in many times! My only regret is the blurry video quality. I wish there was a higher resolution version.

  13. Re: clarity of the video.

I just got the DVD and it is much clearer than the internet clip.

There is no mention of the dancer's names on the DVD.

Someone put their own title page on the internet clip with William and Maeva mentioned as the dancers - which is in error.

  16. Fantastic!! Maeva's footwork is the best and she her back is always straight. William is a perfect match for her talent and both dancers make it a really enjoyable experience.

    My reply:

    (1) The poster of this video was Silvan Zingg ("jumpin88"), himself, who modestly describes the clip as follows: "Switzerlands worldfamous pianist Silvan Zingg plays his composition 'Dancin' The Boogie'. Dancing by worldchampions Boogie Woogie dancers William and Maéva."

    (2) Almost from the time the clip was posted, viewers have expressed doubt that the dancing couple were William and Maeva. Four years ago, someone ("willetmae") from the dancers' own YouTube channel responded, mistakenly believing that it was how the couple danced, not what they looked like, which raised so many doubts: "William and Maeva adopt a different attitude on the clip with Sylvan compared to the vidéos which are on their site[.] The cause is that the passages of dances which are on their site are passages in competition thus with much of tension and stakes[.] When Will and Maeva dance in demonstration or to give pleasure the naturalness takes again the top..."

    (3) Perhaps, the following factors contribute to the "appearance problem:" [1] Will and Maeva were only in their late teens when they were videoed dancing, in April of 2006, to Zingg's boogie piano. [2] In the video with Zingg, neither was wearing theatrical makeup nor had had his hair darkened for that "retro" look. [3] Aspect ratio distortion, from video to video, makes the dancers seem more or less bulky, more or less tall.

  20. I have watched this many times and just love it! I think they are all fantastic. Is it my imagination or is there a slight pause near the end where William seems to rest a second or two- maybe out of breath? Then he looks at his arm (as if there is a watch there) and the dance comes to an end shortly after. Just wondering, because They were dancing a long time at a fast pace.

  22. what can I say that hasn't already been said !!!! This definitely is the best boogie dancing/music I've ever seen. I'm now 79 and can just about remember when it was brought over here by the Americans.
Whenever I'm feeling down I play this recording and it works wonders.!!I'm even thinking of seeing a psychiatrist to find out why it "moves" me so deeply.(LOL)
